The first solar powered building in Australia, the 550 Spencer Office Building, has been launched. The project uses a cutting-edge solar exterior wall composed of 1182 solar panels to extract energy from sunlight and produce electricity that exceeds its needs, achieving complete autonomy and sustainability.
The appearance of the 550 Spencer is designed with a broken line shape, making the solar exterior wall look as beautiful as a glass curtain wall. The principle of light refraction is used to unify the orientation of multiple solar exterior walls. The solar exterior wall is oriented north to capture solar energy, while the glass curtain wall is oriented south to reduce solar thermal gain, More effectively achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.
ALTOP is responsible for the overall exterior facade of the project, including the green energy-saving curtain wall system and customized aluminum panel system. Due to the high requirements for the angle of the project’s folding line, in order to ensure the accuracy of the refraction angle and the integration of the solar exterior wall and the glass curtain wall, the project was restored inside the factory. Visual templates (VMUs) were pre installed, and real solar exterior walls were installed. After multiple tests, the solar exterior wall was ensured to produce the ultimate effect. In the end, this truly sustainable project was completed perfectly and successfully became a milestone project for green buildings in Australia.
